The 2019 NBA trade deadline was one of the busiest in history. (Crazy, right?) There were a few notable trades that happened. Here are a few of them!
The Knicks let Kristaps Porzingis go? (Wait, what?!)
Yeah, you read that right. The Knicks decided to trade one of their star players to the Mavericks for DeAndre Jordan, Dennis Smith Jr., and Wesley Matthews. Rumor has it, the Knicks decided to let their last few key players go in order to make room for future free agents (*cough cough* Kevin Durant) or draft picks (*cough cough*, Zion Williamson). Anyways, with Porzingis gone along with Enes Kanter who was released, I think Knicks fans understand the rest of this season will be quite rough.
In another surprising trade, the 76ers decided to trade the 2017 No. 1 draft pick, Markelle Fultz to the Magic. Now, Fultz was not able to show off his talents this season after being diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). While TOS sounds scary, it just means Fultz is currently dealing with a nerve injury that is affecting the alignment of the nerves in his neck and shoulder. Although Fultz will remain out for the rest of the season, Magic fans should be eager to see him play next season. As for the 76ers, they acquired Jonathan Simmons, a perfect addition to their spectacular roster.
The most awkward trade so far? Harrison Barnes. The former Dallas Maverick was traded to the Sacramento Kings during the middle of a game. The Twitterverse spoke out about the awkward trade, including players like LeBron James who found it to be rude. Well, what players were so important to acquire at that moment? Justin Jackson and Zach Randolph. Yeah, maybe the trade could have waited until the end of the game.
Who was not traded? Anthony Davis
Despite being quite vocal about wanting to leave New Orleans, the star now has no choice but to stay. The Lakers offered numerous trade offers to the Pelicans, which included players like Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Lance Stephenson. However, the Pelicans said that was not enough for them. So instead, Davis is there for the remainder of the season, despite the fact he would look great in a Lakers uniform.
Well, that was only a few of the major trades so far this season. Which moves stood out to you?
