Rain or shine, it’s game time! We’ve wrangled up some of our favorite essentials to weatherproof your fan experience.
THE BRIGHT SIDE
… okay, maybe a little too bright. Is it just us or does the sun really know how to give the student section a beating or what? These simple items will make all the difference when that prime time heat comes blazing in at halftime.
Naturally craving a fashion-forward approach, we like to explore styles outside of the ole’ ballcap. Don’t get us wrong, we loveee baseball hats. But to ensure you stand out in the stands try a statement maker like a visor or flat brim to shake things up.
For that Jack-Nicholson-under-the-radar-but-not-really look. Sunglasses are a surefire way to give your game day style chicness while canceling out the sun’s glare. (It’s also a great way to disguise how many beers you've had at the tailgate.)
The “camel pack” wasn’t invented for no reason. A good rule of thumb is to chug water inbetween pre-game drinks so you aren’t playing catch up come game time. Dehydration and heat are a recipe for failure. Add alcohol, and you’ll be destined to sit the bench the remainder of the day. *Remember game day is a marathon, not a sprint.
Gameday requires hours on hours of outdoor exposure. Be sure to apply sunscreen to your face and any exposed areas such as your chest, back, and shoulders. We can't lie, we also appreciate a quality tailgate set up with tents or an RV.
TRAVEL SIZE WHAT?
Newsflash: Girls sweat too. Travel-size deodorant has to be one of our favorite lifehacks. When you start to “glisten and glow” (huddle girls, huddle) swipe on your mini-sized deo for a quick refresher.
THERE WILL BE CLOUDY DAYS
A rainy game can be a fun experience to brave through with friends and fellow fans or total chaos. These key items can be your saving grace when showers strike.
MAAIKE RAIN PONCHO, here.
We’re definitely not disappointed about this one. Any excuse to wear a poncho is a good one in our book. Just make sure you reach for a style that’s trendy, not tacky.
If you weren’t blessed with Pantene hair either (preach), chances are you want to avoid the wet and tousled look. In the chance of a muggy downfall, style your hair in a high pony or braids ahead of time or pack a scrunchie, hat or hoodie for backup.
One of the most crucial pieces you can choose for game day is shoes. This can make or break your experience. For starters, "never wear new." Breaking in new shoes will guarantee blisters that's unless you want to pack blister band-aids of course. Opt for practical styles such as a sneaker or on a rainy day – rain boots. Plus, a tougher shoe will give your overall outfit a tomboy flare that pairs perfectly with girly styles.
CHILLY STADIUM NIGHTS
Our favorite way to spend an evening is bundled up under stadium lights. Night games are notorious for being a bit breezy.
Fashion pullovers can be a great cozy, chic accessory to any game day outfit. Even better, they can be less costly than bulky team gear. We like to choose styles that have color neutrality so that they can be worn for different sports teams, to work or social events.
If you’re really craving a “from the comfort of your own home” kind-of-vibe, than carrying in a throw blanket to a late game may be your top choice.
Last but not least, we asked the girls in our office for their recommendations.
These items may come in handy for any game day scenario:
• Makeup remover wipes
• Tide pen
• Mints or gum
• Hand sanitizer
• Bottle opener or wine screw
